I found another no-tuner and almost-no-feedline antenna called the "resonant feedline dipole", which is physically end-fed but electrically the same as a center-fed dipole and requires no tuner. By using a choke, the RF is flowing both on the inside and outside of the coax shield, with the outside of the shield thus becoming the second leg of the dipole. Pretty neat, and it sounds easy to set up - place one end high and clear, and the other at the rig, and you're done. Anyone tried one of these?
That antenna will work as written up on the WorldRadio site, but bear in mind that 1/4-wavelength of the coax is radiating and also susceptible to nearby objects. TANSTAAFL®
