There is a very broad selection of sub-types of glass 6L6s and a heirarchy of suitability re power & voltage tolerance, not to mention ruggedisation & other specsmanship to meet industrial & govt to-order standards. There may be more variety of this one type than any other ever made. The 5881 is one of the most common industrial/military variants and is a GT style.

Her is a 6L6GC linear amp I built to "boost" my 6888 transmitter http://antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=63526 This was an experiment to see if I could broadcast some oldies to a friend a mile away.

Still playing with voltage (400-450)
