Hey Guys,

Last week while rummaging thru my many junque boxes I found a Hammond 140B audio transformer. It's listed as a dynamic mic to grid circuit unit, but I had another idea in mind. I've got a nice pair of stereo "cans" by AGS Audio Reflex.
By using only the tip and ring of the plug and connecting that to the 30 ohm side of the transformer I found I had a good match to my sets. I did employ a fixed Benny of 56k and 0.1uF. in the high side just for good measure.
The sound is awesome, with a really full bass, which I've not heard with my usual BT-Ultimatch and telco elements 'phones. The volume is quite good as well, in fact on some strong stations I can set the 'phones on the
desk and listen. My "find" turned out to be a great one!

Man, that transformer better work! Just checked Mouser: $54.86 each! What other gold you got hidden in that junque box? ;)

73,

I use a Hammond 141B (200K/1K) on one of my audio modules. With it and a variable Benny, it works nicely with Clark sound powereds, WE SPs, and Schmarder Piezophones. If space were a prime consideration, I'd go with one built into a set.
Nice single part replacement for TM117s or 45-700s.
