Hello all -

I am still new to the group and mostly have been lurking - lots of great info here to peruse.

I am in the process of getting rid of some electronics stuff that I have accumulated over the past several years, and am mostly selling the stuff on eBay.

I don't want to in any way abuse the forum or worsen the S/N ratio. Is it ok to post eBay listings on the Swap n Swindle forum as long as it is an item of direct interest to homebrewers of radio and related equipment (like transformers, chassis, tubes, etc.)? I just wanted to make sure before I posted anything...

thanks!
Dave

You could post them here, with your desired price, BEFORE you put them on ebay. Show your love, and save the ebay listing fee :)

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your post. Regarding listing eBay auctions in the "Swap & Swindle"
section, I have taken my cue from how they do on the Antique Radio Forum.
http://antiqueradios.com/forums/index.php

They do not allow listing one's own eBay auction while it is active on the
forum. This does keep the s/n down, as well keep any member to member
conflicts from occurring.

Once in a while items on auction end up on here at the same time, but I
don't make a noise because it isn't important that I do as it rarely happens.

Since this is not a real busy board, maybe a once in a while mention of
members items for sale at the auction venue would be ok. Members
may comment one way or another.

Dave

Thanks Dave for clearing this up for me. Listings for auctions take a good deal of time to do properly, and usually once I have done all the groundwork, I am anxious to get the word out to reach anyone interested (IE listing on eBay while also cross-posting on any forums where it would be relevant and not in violation of the terms).

I could try posting something on the board first and give it a few days, before I list on eBay. It's true that posting here is free, and I would love to give a good deal to the folks here who are actively building and experimenting. However, eBay does have some advantages - I like to provide plenty of high-res pics so people can see what they're buying, plus I have perfect feedback on eBay, whereas here nobody really knows me (yet).

By the way, the stuff I am trying to sell is stuff I set aside for 'someday' but I am recently realizing that for me at this point someday is either a long way from now or isn't coming, so I would rather see someone else benefit who could use the stuff.

In any case I will of course respect the rules of the forum and in future please let me know if anything I post is out of line.

thanks again,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I'm just butting in :) I don't think anybody minds you posting things for sale BEFORE they get passed off to ebay. There's not millions of hungry buyers here like ebay but sure, we'd appreciate having first crack at it.

Once it goes to ebay then its dead meat on most forums and people resent the "buy me, buy me" connotation that a link of "buy my stuff on ebay" presents.

So whatcha got there?

-Bill
