I'm looking for recommendations of amplifier class for a 6AG7 RF pentode. It will drive a 40m class C 807 final running at 350v / 100mA. Input to the 6AG7 comes from a VFO-Buffer that can output up to 15 volts peak-to-peak. I have budgeted 10mA at 255v for the 6AG7 plate. Should I bias the the 6AG7 for Class A, B, or C operation?

Thanks.
Roger

Didn't know there was a choice?

Class C.

Hi Rich,

I think you have the right answer...

I don't need the power gain of Class A. There's plenty of input drive available to the 6AG7. But I'm limited on the power available to the 6AG7 plate. So plate efficiency is the driver... so to speak... (i.e. Class C is the way to go).
