The large 2-pin plug should be 12V DC + and -.

The smaller plug should be the audio output and control function. Since this is a dedicated player for use in a Mercedes, the control functions are probably unique to this system. I am a bit surprised that the audio is not a shielded cable, but it is probably low impedance "line out" type of system.

Also, since the front panel has no controls other than disc selection buttons, all the control must be in the main audio/radio system.

Maybe, but I tried with + and - on those big contacts and it didn't start.Another: if there are only 2 cables: audio and power let's say, through which cable from radio to CD changer to control the unit?

I also saw that the metalic box of the CD is not connected to one of those two big pins. What should I do to use it at home?I also saw that I can press a button from 1 to 6 in 3modes: from left, from center and from right.Maybe from center we can play the CD1,from pressing from left is back track, and pressing from right is next track..

One of those lines must have gotten a signal from the main radio unit. Either a ground or a + to enable the CD player and disable the radio. Look for a Mercedes that has the same player and ask the owner to demo it? Or see if a dealer will let you look at the service manual (assuming they have one).

I doubt very much if you will be able to use it at home. The control functions, even ON and OFF, are part of the main music system in the car.

And you know that's all done with logic. The best way would be to find the radio it went with and run the whole setup at home.
