The way my yard is I cannot string out 100 feet of antenna, no trees / poles or other things to tie it too and I don't really want to put a pole in my yard.

I was thinking about stringing it along the peak of my roof, my house is 60 feet long. I got to thinking why couldn't I run the antenna 6 inches above my roof for 60 feet, then raise it a foot and run it back. Basically I would be doubling it back.

I know there must be problems with this as i'm obviously not the first person to figure out how to try & run a long wire over a short distance.

Looking for your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Dan

Run two, three or four wire side by side, each one keep about 3 feet distance. and parallel connect on leadin only.

Don't raise the wire a foot and run it back, because this way will make the signal counteract each other.

If there's no metal under the roof you can just staple the wire to the shingles. If there's metal just below, even a foot of separation wouldn't be enough. One run down the roofline and back, on either side of the peak, is probably good enough.

Hmmmm........ The signal willl counteract ? I have so much to learn :?

I will be following Jims suggestion and tacking wire to my roof this weekend :D

One more quick question, what type of wire do I use between my radio and the magnet motor wire I will be using up on the roof ?

Thanks guys,
Dan

If you're stapling, look for the SS/monel staples. I use an Arrow stapler with them for my Christmas lights, to avoid rust on the trim. Another way is to place the wire just under the shingle tabs.

Good advice ! Thanks, I was wondering about tucking the wire under the shingle tabs, thanks for confirming that for me :D

You can use the same type of wire.

Hi Dan D,

Don't double back( as in reach the end then turn and come back).
Have both "runs" of wire only connected together at the downlead end.
Kindof a streched "C".

Try a t2fd ?

You could put it on the roof or even inside the attic.
