Does anybody have a schematic that uses five 1625 tubes? I'm thinking about a radial engine for my next set. This V-Twin is old hat already :)

Now that's a radio!

Congrats on the building of that one.

For a 5 tube radial how about an RF amp, followed by a pushpull
detector ckt and then two stages of audio?

Also why not switch to some lower fil voltage tubes while you're
at it? 1F4, 1F5, 1G5, 1J5 are all ST shape power pentodes. with
2.0V fil.

Great idea! Those lower filament voltage tubes don't have plate caps though and I need that deature for spark plug wires.

Hi Tom,
How about a tube like a 32 or 34. There is a cap, but
a grid cap. Should give you that look you want.

The 32 and 34 arent power pentodes, I thot that was a necessary (like the 1625).
Maybe 'fake' a grid cap on the 1 series tubes in the center of that fancy cylinder
head ;-) :? After all you are gonna have to put 2 push rods up the sides of each
'cylinder' for the overhead valves... ;-)

Tom,

Neat looking set!

I'm with some of the other suggestions. . .Use a tube like a #30 (triode, 2-V. Fil, low voltage plate).

I have a ton of VT-67s, which are a #30-spcl, and would look/work neat in what you have in mind.

The set could be: 1) Wide-band RF amplifier, 2) Detector/Regen, 3) Voltage amplifier, and 4) Two used in a Push-Pull output. . .That'd be a total of 5 tubes. . .No grid caps, however. . .

The other tubes suggested are quite easy to get. . .I have a ample supply of all of them.

Just some thoughts here. . .

Mike

I have used the 34 and it makes a great regen set. However, I was using 45 volts on the plate at the time. I never tried lower voltages, but it should work with enough feedback.

The V-Twin looks really great, Tom.

Thanks Dave and Mike for providing a place for guys like us to chat,

Mike

Tom, With those neat cylinder heads, I dont think anyone would
care whether the wires run up to 'real' tube elements or just to
the fake spark plugs ;-)

Go for any on the Lo-V tubes....

Thanks guys for all the tips. This is going to take some extensive consideration (or scratching of the head).
